Jade carvings

Jade has an extremely long history in China, extending at least four thousand years and has been used extensively in religious rites. While other materials such as gold and silver have been used, nothing seems to have stuck with the Chinese the way jade has. Intricate carvings have been made, most carrying some kind of meaning: peach (longevity), mandarin duck (love), deer (high official ranks), bat (blessing), fish (affluence), double phoenixes (thriving) and many more. The two pieces I’ve shown here are actually from the same carving. The total piece was about 4 feet high with carvings wrapped around the huge piece of jade. Absolutely stunning!
Of course, our trip to this jade display included a trip to their store where they had these and many more things conveniently for sale.
